Sexual Assault Services
Every 68 Seconds,
an American is sexually assaulted.
There are many forms of sexual violence, including attacks, forcible rape, intimate contact without consent, child molestation, sex with an intoxicated person, groping, and non-physical aggression, stalking, and harassment. Sexual assault has dramatic long-term impacts. If you or someone you know is a victim, there is help!
Sanctuary, Inc. is one of the most comprehensive programs in the nation, established in 1982. Sanctuary offers much more than shelter. This holistic program provides the tools and support that allow sexual assault survivors to rebuild their lives.
All services are at no cost and confidentially.

What We Do
Services Offered
Emergency Shelter
Safe housing can provide a pathway to freedom. We are here to fulfill that emergency need.
Crisis Counseling
Our crisis counselors help individuals in crisis make a safety plan to address immediate needs.
Medical Advocacy
We provide accompaniment to the hospital for survivors of domestic and sexual assault seeking medical care.
Legal Advocacy
Legal advocates assist survivors with obtaining immediate and long-term legal protection. This includes education about the legal system, support during the legal processes, and safety planning.
Emergency Agency Referrals
(CHFS, Law Enforcement)
We provide referrals to third party agencies to ensure the holistic needs of survivors are met. Collaboration among partners increases chances of success.
Individual Therapy
Sexual assault survivors are at a high risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, or stress-related mental health conditions. Counseling helps survivors heal from abuse by helping survivors learn to cope with emotional pain and fears.
Spiritual Enrichment
Spiritual Enrichment at Sanctuary, Inc. provides a safe place for healing and growth specifically designed to assist victims and survivors of abuse. The program offers a place of hope where people can encounter their inner spiritual power that gives them strength, courage, and determination to begin their journey to healing and stability.
Exercise Therapy
(Residential Clients Only)
Because mental health and physical health are so closely linked, problems in one area can impact the other. Sanctuary’s on-site exercise therapy room lends clients with a space to improve mental and physical health.
SAFE Exams
Sanctuary’s on-site Sexual Assault Forensics Exam room provides a space for sexual assault survivors to receive medical care following sexual assault. Trained sexual assault nurse examiners are available to perform the exam. Medical advocates are also on-site.
Kentucky law requires mandatory reporting of child abuse, neglect, and dependency (KRS 620) and the abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation of adults who have a physical or mental disability and are unable to protect themselves; this might include an elderly person (KRS 209). To make a report of child abuse or neglect, contact DCBS Centralized Intake at 1-877-597-2331 or your local Law Enforcement office.
